What I'm working on at the mo

Here are a few things I've been working on in the studio, our project is to create an outdoor garment that is very sculptural, we went to Yorkshire sculpture park for inspiration. I've begun to branch our from sculpture and look at how nature adapts to protecting itself outdoors and have particularly been looking at: camouflage, cocoons, chrysalis and scales. We'll be using a fabric called ripstop and utlizing the sonic welders to bond the fabrics together, it's a really interesting project and using new technologies really broadens your ideas, stay tuned for how this develops and for the final garment which will be in neon colours!

Crazy Barry M effect Nail Varnish!

Hey all! Check out this awesome nail varnish effect by Barry M, it was recommended to me, by a friend on my course and it's brilliant! It's £3.99 at Boots and it basically works when you first apply a basecoat of a bright colour like hot pink or teal, you wait for that to dry and simply apply one coat of the Barry M effects nail varnish and it cracks before your eyes! I'm going to try a brown first coat to try and achieve a quirky leopard print :)

Evie and Bluebell-The Enchanted Closet

Just found this beautiful blog, so for those of you interested in interior design check it out! It's really inspirational. You can find it on my blog list at the top of the page.

Gok came to the Bullring on Friday, here are a few pics, this can all be seen on Tuesday's episode of Gok's fashion fix :)

Sorry there's not more of Gok, but it was quite hard to see through all the masses of fashionistas that turned up!

Some pictures from the cov uni stand at the Clotheshow

Here are some of the head scarves we made whilst on the stand, these were really popular and we couldn't make them fast enough to satisfy the demand!

My idol and inspiration for lots of my work.

newbie

Ok, so this is my first ever blog and I want to use this as space to describe my everyday life as a fashion student. So here's a little bit about me: I'm studying fashion at Coventry University, it's my first year, i'm 21 and I live and breathe fashion. Lately I'm really getting into vintage and playing with ideas of what fashion is. My favourite stores at the moment are: Forever 21, Cow, Gladrags and H and M. Magazines I find inspiring are: Vogue, Company, Elle and Glamour. I'm going to Paris, early Feb, I'm taking both my polaroid and my digital camera, so I should come back with some epic pics for everyone to see, so I'll keep you posted :).
